Kidney Test

This test is used to check creatinine, protein, and specific gravity levels in urine samples. The result is determined by visually comparing the test strip to the color chart printed on the packaging (see bottom).

Creatinine

Creatinine is a waste product in the blood that passes through the kidneys to be filtered and eliminated in the urine. It is a byproduct of normal muscle activity. The more muscle mass a person has, the more creatinine they produce. Creatinine levels reflect both muscle mass and kidney function. Women generally have lower creatinine levels than men due to having less muscle mass on average.

Protein

Under normal circumstances, urine should contain little to no protein. If protein is present, it may indicate a problem with your kidneys’ filtration ability.

Specific Gravity

The kidneys remove waste substances from the body. The concentration of the excreted molecules determines the urine’s specific gravity. In adults, normal specific gravity is about 1.000 to 1.030. Increases in specific gravity — i.e., higher concentration of dissolved substances — can be associated with kidney failure or reduced blood flow to the kidneys.

How the self-test works:

1. Open the foil pouch and remove the test strip.
2. Urinate into a cup and dip the test strip into the urine.
3. Read the result after approximately 1 minute.

Liver Test

Our liver function test is used to check bilirubin and urobilinogen levels in urine samples, as an aid in identifying potential liver and gallbladder problems. The result is determined by visually comparing the test strip to the color chart printed on the packaging.

Why test for bilirubin?

If liver issues are suspected, it’s important to measure bilirubin levels in the blood — the same applies to suspected bile duct disorders. A clear sign of elevated bilirubin is yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes.

How the self-test works:

1. Open the foil pouch and remove the test strip.
2. Urinate into a clean cup and dip the strip into the urine.
3. Read the result after approximately 1 minute by comparing the reaction color on the strip with the color chart. Keep the strip horizontal during the reading to avoid mixing colors between the two test areas.

Diabetes Test

Our diabetes test is designed to check glucose and ketone levels in urine samples.

The result is determined through visual comparison with a color chart printed on the product. Each color represents a specific concentration range of glucose and ketones (see chart at the bottom).

Diabetes can be difficult to detect based on symptoms alone, as they are often general. A simple diabetes test can help ease your concerns or provide a reason to seek further medical attention.

Urinary Tract Infection

Self-test for urinary tract infection that detects clear signs of a UTI. The test is quick and easy to use at home, and the result is available after about 2 minutes. The test detects leukocytes, nitrite, and blood in the urine.

The package includes:

• An instruction leaflet with a color chart for result interpretation
• 2 foil-wrapped tests, each with one test strip and a desiccant pouch
  This is the same type of test used by many healthcare clinics.
